Best Single Player PC Games for 2023! Top 10!

Single player gaming will never die! Many of us enjoy playing games by ourselves. This allows us to fully engage in the game world and appreciate all aspects of the game without any competition.

In this post, I’m going to talk about the 10 best single player PC games for 2023. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Best Single Player PC Games for 2023: Top 1~5

1. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

best single player PC games: The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

I have played many games in my time, and TW3 is still the peak of best single player PC games for me in 2023!

As a book fan, it’s certainly a good adoption of Sapkowski’s universe and characters. The characters are mostly adapted faithfully, and the stories from the main game to the DLC are emotionally invested.

What really makes The Witcher 3 stand out, though, is how deep its story is. Not only are the main goals more than just easy “find things,” but the side goals also have their own stories, often with interesting characters who make you make tough decisions.

The Witcher 3 is one the best action adventure RPGs, and you can’t go wrong playing it unless, of course, you don’t like the genre of it.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2

Few games are as emotionally compelling with their story and narrative. Few games offer as much content as a $60 game, and few games with a world as beautiful, varied, large, and wide as Red Dead Redemption 2.

Before its release, I played the entirety of Red Dead Redemption 1. I 100% beat it, and it was so sweet.

If you asked me, I would say Red Dead 1 may be one of the best games ever. Its stories, characters, world, and gameplay are simply unbeatable, absolute perfection on every level.

The Red Dead 2 came out and justly dethroned Red Dead 1.

3. Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3

It deserves all the praise it gets because Larian Studios has worked hard on it and released updates regularly since it first came out.

This RPG is a true treasure. It offers a carefully constructed story, a turn-based combat system requiring inventive strategies, and a beautifully detailed world. Even the most ordinary NPCs feel lifelike through motion capture technology, whether they have horns or not.

4. Elden Ring

Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a definite must-play game for 2023, but set aside some time and some patience.

FromSoftware has created an open-world design that rewards players for exploring, and its gripping lore provides a deliberate and thoughtful experience. Even though some visual styles show their age, Elden Ring’s gameplay reflects years of refinement. Although challenging, it’s also very satisfying.

People questioned if FromSoftware could infuse the same level of detail into an open world as in their previous games. They not only achieved this but also surpassed expectations.

5. Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk is definitely one of the best single player PC games that I’ve played this year.

I’m not sure I’d call it a true RPG, but perhaps an RPG-lite. It has solid, gratifying, and varied storylines with a long list of memorable characters and “big moments.”

The main story and most side quests are well-written and resonate with the player.

The characters from the game will stick in my mind for a long time.

6. Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 was already a top contender in survival horror games. The remake solidifies its place among the greats.

The game took a new direction, focusing more on combat mechanics. It switched from a locked camera to a third-person over-the-shoulder view.

You are Leon S. Kennedy, years after the zombies took over Racoon City. Leon used to be a police officer, but now he is a confident government agent. His mission is to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter from a mysterious organization.

7. Divinity Original Sin 2

Divinity Original Sin 2

Divinity OS2 may not have fast combat, but it has deep and interesting combat with factors like the line-of-sight environment that can aid or hinder you.

For example, I was playing with my friends. One of them cast a spell that made it rain indoors. It left puddles of water that my friends and I were standing on. Without thinking, I used an air spell that discharged electricity, and it electrified the puddles of water, shocking my entire team.

Also, it’s always fun to steal and pickpocket stuff from merchants and NPCs in the game.

8. Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal

It’s a vast improvement from the Doom(2016) in terms of gameplay. It introduces puzzles and Parkour stuff to give the players breathing space. There are more plot and cut scenes, too, to give us the backstory of the doom guy.

I was playing in ultra Violence difficulty, and I was having so much fun until the marauder enemy came.

The character progression was very good. You keep getting new weapons and tactics like blood punch, flame belch, etc, to mix and switch various tactics.

9. Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight

The immersive atmosphere is my favorite thing about the game!

One of the best things about Metroidvania is exploring a whole new world. Hollow Knight absolutely nails that exciting feeling of wonder and the melancholy, derelict magnificence of the fallen kingdom. I would almost go as far as to say that Hollow Knight is worth playing for its atmosphere alone!

Overall, the aesthetic of this game is excellent.

10. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley

When Stardew Valley first came out, I was drawn to it because it reminded me of my favorite childhood game, Harvest Moon on Snes.

You can repair the boat and go to a whole new island with new areas, secrets, etc.

You can put a prism shard at the 3 pillars

You can get married and have a baby.

The amount of content this game offers is INSANE, especially considering the cheap price tag. This game runs on any platform, has no microtransactions, and offers hundreds of hours of fun.

Final Words

In your mind, which do you think are the best single player PC games in 2023? I know it is difficult to answer which one is the best because everyone has their own thoughts and satisfaction.

But you can play the above games and get your money’s worth without any regrets.
